A Month of Movies »

Surfing Empire Online this weekend I noticed something on their sidebar. It was mention of the scariest movie moments and a picture of Sadako, so of course I had to go and see it and it gave me an idea.

I’m going to try and blog on both Shibuya and Beautiful Sin, alternating, every single day if I can. What will I blog about? A countdown of my favorite alltime films - one film a day for the entire month of November - half of them on Shibuya, and half on Beautiful Sin. This first one is for Shibuya, and it’s one of my absolute favorite films.

ORANGE COUNTY (2002)

This film is maybe one of the funniest films ever made. It’s about Shaun Brumder (Colin Hanks), a former surfer/aspiring writer who wants to get out of Orange County and attend Stanford in the fall so that he can work with one of the teachers there who happens to be his idol, Marcus Skinner.

Unfortunately for Shaun he lives in Mike White’s world, where everyone in his life is terminally stupid and can’t seem to get their own acts together, so just trying to make it to Univarsity is like jumping hurdles under water.

The cast are all stars of the comedy world: Lily Tomlin, Chevy Chase, Cathrine O’Hara, Jack Black, Monica Keena, Brett Harrison, Carly Pope, Mike White, Schyler Fisk and the incomparable Harold Ramis of Ghostbusters fame. The film is touching, it’s hilarious and just insanely well written. If you haven’t seen it then you’re really missing out on a great time. Get some popcorn ready, because out of 5 possible stars this film gets a 4.5!

Stay tuned for tomorrow’s film, which will be posted on Beautiful-Sin.net!
